Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 4 – Career prospects and lifetime salaries can strongly influence college degree choices.

Not all degrees lead to higher lifetime earnings than entering the workforce straight from high school; some may cost more than they’re worth.

Degrees in engineering, computer science, mathematics, and engineering tech offer the highest ROI in the US, outperforming high school-only earnings.

Harvard’s computer science program ranks first in ROI, with over USD4 million expected over a lifetime, USD256,539 median income, and USD14,000 median debt.

In contrast, humanities degrees, including English and visual arts, have lower lifetime ROI. English degrees, with a negative USD 39,000 ROI, have seen a 32% drop in graduates over the past decade.
