Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 1 – New Zealand and the UK retained their #1 and #2 rankings in 2024. Australia improved in both the Environmental (from 10th to 6th) and Economic pillars, moving up to 3rd place overall, surpassing Hong Kong and Singapore.

Japan also rose from 8th to 5th, largely due to advancements in the Environmental pillar. Meanwhile, Hong Kong slipped from 4th to 7th place.

Notably, while GDP per capita correlates positively with Economic and Societal rankings, it shows little relation to Environmental rankings. For example, the Philippines ranks 3rd in the Environmental pillar but 22nd in GDP, while the US ranks 16th in Environmental despite having the second-highest GDP per capita.
