Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 30 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that hosting of the 4th National Games and the 2nd Para Games has strengthened Cambodia's sports capabilities and prepared the country to host the 5th Asian Youth Games in 2029.
The premier spoke on Wednesday (Oct. 30) at the opening of the 4th National Games and the 2nd Para Games at the Olympic National Stadium, Phnom Penh.
Samdech Thipadei underscored, "The organisation of the 4th National Games and the 2nd Para Games is a new opportunity, showcasing the growth and development of sports in Cambodia and our readiness to host the 5th Asian Youth Games and the 6th Asian Youth Para Games in 2029."
The premier highlighted that hosting sports events brings multiple benefits to society, including political, diplomatic, economic, cultural, and tourism advantages, while enhancing Cambodia's national image and trade market. This is another step forward in demonstrating Cambodia's solidarity and economic strength.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Hun Manet also affirmed Cambodia's commitment to hosting the 5th Asian Youth Games in 2029, contingent upon mobilizing the necessary resources to organize a large-scale regional sports event responsibly and effectively.
As the host of the upcoming 2029 Asian Youth Games, Cambodia aims to welcome national and international guests with warmth, hospitality, and exceptional service, ensuring an outstanding experience for all participants and attendees.
Notably, in 2023, Cambodia successfully hosted the 32nd SEA Games and the 12th ASEAN Para Games, receiving international praise. Cambodia secured 282 medals, ranking fourth among 11 participating countries.
