Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 30 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed gratitude for the organisation of the 4th National Games and the 2nd Para Games, celebrating these events as symbols of unity and the enduring spirit of Cambodian sports in times of peace.
The premier spoke on Wednesday (Oct. 30) at the opening of the 4th National Games and the 2nd Para Games at Olympic National Stadium, Phnom Penh.
Prime Minister Hun Manet underscored, “The event was wonderfully organised, capturing Cambodia's spirit of unity and the soul of sports in a peaceful era.”
At the same time, Samdech Thipadei underlined that this event marks his second participation in a large-scale live program following the 32nd SEA Games. He also extended his gratitude to all the artists who contributed to this opening ceremony.
On the occasion, Premier Hun Manet also added that organising sports competitions provides numerous social benefits, including contributions to politics, diplomacy, economy, culture, national image, trade, and tourism, while also strengthening international relations.
It should be noted that the 4th National Games and the 2nd Para Games in 2024 will feature participation from 25 provincial capitals, as well as the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of National Defence, and the Ministry of Economy and Finance, with a total of 4,522 participants, including athletes, officials, and coaches.
The 4th National Games will include 36 sports, including football, volleyball, basketball, athletics, badminton, table tennis, swimming, taekwondo (ITF and WT), petanque, fencing, boxing, judo, wrestling, kun bokator, kun khmer, tennis, karate, gymnastics, cycling, soft tennis, wushu, hockey, kickboxing, breakdancing, ju-jitsu, dragon boat racing, sailing, weightlifting, billiards, triathlon, golf, chess, jet-ski racing, cricket, and vovinam, encompassing a total of 328 disciplines.
The 2nd National Para Games will feature 13 sports, including athletics, swimming, wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, boccia, table tennis, chess, weightlifting, judo, badminton, blind five-a-side football, and seven-a-side football, and e-sport with a total of 55 disciplines.
The 4th National Games and the 2nd Para Games will take place in Phnom Penh, Kep, Sihanoukville, Kampong Chhnang, and Svay Rieng provinces, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, and various National Sports Federations.
