Sen Sok, Cambodia – October 25, 2024 – The Australian Ambassador for Gender Equality, Ms. STEPHANIE COPUS CAMPBELL AM, visited the Marie Stopes Sen Sok clinic, underscoring the ongoing commitment of the Australian Government to support sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in Cambodia. This visit highlights the collaborative efforts between the Australian Government and Marie Stopes International Cambodia (MSIC) to ensure that women, especially marginalized groups, have access to comprehensive, quality sexual and reproductive health services.

With the backing of the Australian Government, two key projects are currently being implemented by MSIC: the ‘Responding with Essential Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Provision and New Delivery Mechanisms’ Program (RESPOND) Phase II and the ‘Australian NGO Cooperation Program’ (ANCP). The RESPOND Project Phase II is designed to support women of reproductive age—ranging from menstruation to menopause—by providing essential SRH services. This initiative also prioritizes adolescents, youth, survivors of gender-based violence, and other vulnerable populations, ensuring that all women have autonomy over their bodies and health.
The ANCP Project further reinforces MSIC’s dedication to offering a broad range of family planning and SRH services to women and young people, focusing on breaking down financial barriers and promoting social inclusion.
Sivheng Leng, Country Director of MSI Cambodia, emphasized the importance of this initiative: "Our work is about empowering women and marginalized communities in Cambodia. The support from the Australian Government enables us to provide essential services and information, ensuring that no one is left behind in accessing quality sexual and reproductive health care."
The Australian Ambassador for Gender Equality, Ms. STEPHANIE COPUS CAMPBELL AM, said “I am inspired by the incredible work Marie Stopes International Cambodia is doing to improve access to sexual & reproductive health services - essential for gender equality. Australia remains committed to supporting inclusive health outcomes through programs.”
The Australian Government’s support is vital in advancing gender equality and the rights of women and marginalized groups, including those with disabilities and LGBTQ+ individuals. The visit by the Ambassador aims to raise public awareness about these crucial initiatives and the ongoing efforts to provide equitable access to sexual and reproductive health services across Cambodia.
