Mondulkiri (FN), Oct. 24 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet cautioned the public against falling for the deceptive claims of brokers urging people to register for social land concessions. He stated that no such policy exists for the distribution of these land concessions.
The premier spoke on Thursday (Oct. 24) during the inauguration of O’ Te Dam in Mondulkiri province.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underscored, "I have announced the social land concession, and the working group is preparing to officially begin it at the beginning of next year. However, last night I noticed on Facebook that brokers are encouraging people to register for the concession. I would like to clarify that there are no brokers authorised to encourage anyone to take land concessions. Any registration must follow the state's official procedures. In the past, we had mechanisms for registering land concessions through the authorities, and only after the establishment of a committee, we made a formal announcement."
Please be informed that Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet recently warned those who assist individuals in pursuing state land for personal gain, highlighting that some people falsely claim to represent the poor in order to request thousands of hectares of land from the state. He underlined that this is a criminal act, subject to legal consequences. He added that the Royal Government has a clear mechanism in place to provide land to those who are genuinely landless.
The premier also affirmed that for those who truly lack land, the Royal Government is preparing a clear registration mechanism to prevent fraudulent claims. The government has regularly implemented policies for economic land concessions aimed at supporting those in need.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet added that under the current mechanism, the Royal Government will establish a National Committee to implement this initiative from January 2025 onwards. The government is currently studying potential locations and procedures to ensure land is properly allocated to those in need, facilitating the development of new villages and communes on the designated land.
