Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 16 – In nearly a year of operations, from 16 October 2023 to 30 September 2024, Siem Reap Angkor International Airport handled 14,700 flights. The total number of passengers and departures reached 1.32 million and is expected to rise to 1.5 million by the end of 2024 as the airport expands its international routes to eight countries and 15 cities.
Zou Yuhui, Chairman of Yunnan Air investment Cambodia Airport management spoke on Wednesday (Oct. 16) at the celebration of the first anniversary of Siem Reap Angkor International Airport.
The chairman underlined that the airport receives an average of 40 flights per day, serving approximately 3,620 passengers, with a normal operating capacity of over 90 per cent. Currently, the airport operates flights to eight countries and 15 cities, with 12 airlines servicing 16 routes connecting Cambodia to South and Southeast Asia. He added that Siem Reap Angkor International Airport has become a key hub for the economic and cultural integration of Cambodia with Southeast Asian countries.
On the occasion, Minister in charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation Mao Havannall highlighted that the airport has played a significant role in the rehabilitation and development of Cambodia's airport infrastructure, boosting national economic growth and promoting aviation, tourism, and investment. This progress aligns with the sustainability and resilience goals set forth in the vision, policies, and aspirations of the seventh-mandate Royal Government, progressing as anticipated.
