Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 15 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet made seven recommendations to the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) units to enhance the defence sector in Cambodia.
The premier spoke on Tuesday (Oct. 15) during the 30th founding anniversary of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces’ (RCAF) Brigade 70 in Phnom Penh.
Samdech Thipadei underlined that in line with the National Defence Mission set by the seventh-mandate Royal Government, he expects the Army Command and the entire RCAF to give close attention to its implementation.
To further promote the defence sector, Samdech Thipadei has issued several recommendations to the RCAF units as follows:
1. The army must maintain a high level of professionalism, absolute loyalty to the nation and the people, and strictly adhere to all provisions, circulars, guidelines, and statutes of the RCAF, as well as legal norms. This commitment will ensure that the RCAF becomes a true force for defending the nation, the motherland, and its people.
2. All units must prioritise the effective use of force, resources, and assets. They should employ force according to the necessary skills and ensure proper and sustainable maintenance of all weapons and military equipment, including provisions and supplies.
3. All units must continue to strengthen training and human resource development, both in quantity and quality, to serve national defence effectively. In particular, units should enhance the skills of soldiers according to their specific duties.
4. All units should prepare all personnel, means, and materials to assist in rescuing people during emergencies, collaborating closely with relevant territorial authorities.
5. Attention must be given to ensuring logistics and health within the army to improve the well-being and health of personnel.
6. Pension and disability assessments should be conducted accurately to ensure transparency, accuracy, and fairness.
7. The RCAF, especially the army, must be prepared to support the Royal Gendarmerie in combating major crimes that threaten national security in the future, including natural resource offenses, transnational drug trafficking, and cybercrimes.
