Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 15 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called for a leadership change at Prey Sar Prison (M1) to improve efficiency following the leak of a video showing inmates drinking inside the facility.

The premier spoke on Tuesday (Oct. 15) during the 30th founding anniversary of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces’ (RCAF) Brigade 70 in Phnom Penh.

"Yesterday, I saw a party video from inside the prison circulating on Facebook," the premier said. "I immediately spoke with Minister Sar Sokha, tasking him with reviewing, investigating, and addressing the situation. Facebook can be chaotic—sometimes videos from 10 years ago resurface. But regardless, our focus must be on reforming and strengthening our prisons. Minister Sar Sokha has since reported that the leadership of M1 will be replaced to reinforce the institution," the premier underscored.
