Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 15 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet highly praised the progress of Brigade 70 of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), speaking on Tuesday (Oct. 15) during the 30th founding anniversary of the Brigade 70 in Phnom Penh.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet stated, "I am very pleased with the progress of Brigade 70, and I sincerely appreciate its ability to fulfil its roles and responsibilities, which have led to great achievements over the past 30 years."

Premier Hun Manet commended the officers, deputies, and soldiers of Brigade 70 for their sacrifices and for overcoming numerous obstacles in the cause of national defence, peacekeeping, stability, and social order.

In addition, Samdech Thipadei underlined that for the past 45 years, Cambodia has advanced with unity, heroism, certainty, and in the right direction, reflecting the sacred aspirations of the Cambodian people.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that peace remains invaluable. He noted that the significance of peace can be truly understood when it is lost, and he warned that losing peace poses great dangers.

Please be informed that Brigade 70 was originally reorganised from the Battalion 70 into the Infantry Brigade 70 according to a sub-decree dated 15 October 1994 issued by the Royal Government, under the direct command of the General Staff of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces. At that time, General Mao Sophan served as the division commander until 2023.

On 6 September 2018, as part of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces' reform plan, Brigade 70 was transferred from the General Command to the Army Command. Its name was officially changed from the Infantry Brigade 70 to Brigade 70, according to the Prakas issued by the Ministry of National Defence on 23 May 2019.
