Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 12 – Chinese Ambassador Wang Wenbin, on Friday (Oct. 11), summarized the outcomes of Chinese Premier Li Qiang's meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on 10 October 2024 on the sidelines of the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits under the theme “ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience".

Ambassador Wang Wenbin underlined that at the meeting, Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet reaffirmed shared resolve to bring further progress to the long-lasting relations of traditional friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and China.

The Chinese side reaffirmed unwavering support for Cambodia's choice of development path that suits its national conditions in its independence and sovereignty. At the same time, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet reiterated Cambodia's resolute adherence to the One-China policy. Both sides reaffirmed their close collaboration and mutual support in regional and multilateral fora.

The two prime ministers agreed to align the Belt and Road Initiative with Cambodia's Pentagonal Strategy and to develop the "Industrial and Technological Corridor" and "Fish and Rice Corridor." They also pledged to strengthen cooperation in clean energy, investment, and combating transnational crimes, including online scams, while advancing the China-Cambodia community with a shared future.

On transnational crime, Ambassador Wang Wenbin underscored the joint efforts of Chinese and Cambodian prime ministers to combat transnational crimes. The Chinese side praised Cambodia's crackdown on telecom fraud in Sihanoukville, which led to the deportation of 1,200 Chinese nationals. Ambassador Wang also reaffirmed China’s ongoing support and assistance in addressing transnational crime.

According to Ambassador Wang, China has also announced a grant to support Cambodia's infrastructure development, signalling positive outcomes for regional and international cooperation. Ambassador Wang expressed his confidence that China and Cambodia will continue to strengthen ties, with promising potential for greater achievements in the future.
