Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 11 – Cambodian Delegate Minister in charge of ASEAN Affairs So Naro announced that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has confirmed plans to establish a new embassy in Phnom Penh to strengthen bilateral relations between Canada and Cambodia. This move reflects the prudent foreign policy of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.

The delegate minister spoke on Friday (Oct. 11) at a press conference regarding the outcomes of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet’s participation in the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits held in Vientiane, Laos.

Delegate minister underlined that Canada’s decision to establish an embassy in Cambodia highlights the significance of the country under the leadership of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet as a young prime minister, prompting Canada to take this step.

So Naro noted that during the meeting between the Prime Ministers of Canada and Cambodia at the ASEAN Summit in Laos, both leaders, being young and dynamic, had a productive and consistent discussion.

The minister added that this achievement reflects Cambodia’s success and showcases the wise foreign policy of Prime Minister Hun Manet, which has led to increased global recognition of Cambodia’s importance, resulting in Canada’s decision to open an embassy in Phnom Penh, a move that is gaining attention worldwide.
