Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 11 – Cambodian Delegate Minister in charge of ASEAN Affairs So Naro presented a summary of the outcomes of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet’s participation in the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits held in Vientiane, Laos.

Speaking on Friday (Oct. 11) at a press conference, So Naro underlined that through the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits, the ASEAN member states have grown closer. He noted that the Cambodian delegation, led by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, had a successful visit to Laos.

The minister confirmed that at the invitation of Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, the Chair of ASEAN for 2024, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet led a high-level delegation to take part in the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits on 8-11 October 2024 in Vientiane, Laos.

According to So Naro, the Summits included the participation of two new prime ministers from Singapore and Thailand, while Myanmar’s seat remained vacant, with representation but without political authority.

The 44th and 45th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits under the theme “ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience" focused on further advancing ASEAN Community building towards the realisation of the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and enhancing relations with ASEAN's external partners through ASEAN-led mechanisms with an aim to strengthen connectivity and resilience in the region and beyond as well as to address present and emerging challenges effectively.

On the sidelines of the summits, Samdech Thipadei attended the ASEAN Leaders Interface with Representatives of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA); ASEAN Leaders’ Interface with Representatives of ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC); ASEAN Leaders’ Interface with Representatives of ASEAN Youth; and the 2nd Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) Leaders’ Meeting.

Samdech Thipadei also held bilateral talks with some ASEAN and world leaders to enhance bilateral relations.
