Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 30 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet praised Cambodia’s ability to successfully host major international events, citing the recent Gumball 3000.
Leang Khun, Co-Founder and Chairman of Chip Mong Group, paid a courtesy call on Samdech Thipadei on Monday (Sep 30) at the Peace Palace.
Leang Khun briefed Samdech Thipadei on the successful hosting of the Gumball 3000 in Cambodia, which received high praise from the Gumball 3000 delegation. He added that the Gumball 3000 event garnered widespread media and social media coverage, reaching an audience of over 1 billion, and its impact is expected to grow further.
He thanked the support of the Royal Government, the Ministry of Tourism, other ministries and relevant local authorities for their cooperation in organizing this event successfully and proudly. In addition, the event also contributed to the humanitarian efforts by raising USD 450,000 in charitable funds for the Angkor Hospital for Children in Siem Reap.
For his part, Prime Minister Hun Manet congratulated and praised the successful cooperation behind the Gumball 3000 event, thanking all parties involved for ensuring its smooth and successful execution. He also extended his appreciation to Chip Mong Group, its partners, and all participants who generously volunteered and donated to support the Angkor Hospital for Children. He specifically acknowledged the dedicated team of doctors at the hospital who continue to provide life-saving healthcare to Cambodian children.
Samdech Thipadei underlined that the success of the Gumball 3000 event provided three main benefits for Cambodia: (1) Promoting Cambodia's national identity and rich culture to the world, (2) Attracting more international tourists to visit the Kingdom, especially to the Angkor Archaeological Park, and (3) Showcasing Cambodia's rapid development to international guests.
Lastly, the premier also mentioned the Royal Government’s commitment to supporting the organization of international events and encouraged Chip Mong Group to continue collaborating with relevant ministries and institutions to bring more new events to Cambodia in the future.
