Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 27 – Cambodia earned more than USD 331 million from the export of rubber products in the first eight months of 2024, according to a report seen by Fresh News on 26 September 2024.
According to the General Directorate of Rubber's report, revenue from the export of rubber as of August 2024 amounted to USD 238,318,141, while the export of rubberwood was USD 2,683,897.
The report also indicated that as of September 2024, the price of rubber was USD 1,565 per ton, an increase of USD 180 per ton, equivalent to a 12.95 per cent rise compared to the same period last year. The average export value of rubber in September 2024 was USD 202 per cubic meter.
It should be noted that Cambodia has so far planted rubber trees in a total area of 407,172 hectares, in which the trees on 320,184 hectares, or 78.64 percent, are old enough to be tapped.
In 2023, Cambodia earned approximately USD 537.9 million from the sale of rubber products, marking an increase of about USD 6.2 million, or 1.2 per cent, compared to 2022.
