Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 26 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet shared that during meetings with foreign dignitaries at the Peace Palace, he always highlights the achievements of Cambodian people. He proudly stated that the Peace Palace, where these meetings take place, was entirely built by Cambodian engineers.
The premier spoke on Thursday (Sep. 26) during a graduation of 3,530 students of the Royal University of Law and Economics (RULE) in Phnom Penh.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet noted that Cambodian people are now fully capable of managing their own projects. From building bridges, roads, and high-rise structures, Cambodian engineers are leading the way. Beyond construction, they are also developing computer programs and overseeing projects at both national and sub-national levels, taking on leadership roles in implementation.
On the occasion, the premier recalled that in the past, Cambodia relied heavily on foreign experts, including Russians and Vietnamese, to guide construction projects. Even university professors were often foreigners. However, over time, these experts were replaced as universities recognized the growing capabilities of Cambodian professors.
In addition, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet reflected on the fight against COVID19, noting that during a time when every country had to rely on itself, Cambodia, particularly Cambodian doctors, had the capacity to manage and combat the virus.
