New York (FN), Sep. 25 – Cambodia and Kyrgyzstan discussed ways to strengthen bilateral and multilateral relations, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges.

Cambodian Foreign Minister Sok Chenda Sophea held a bilateral meeting with Zheenbek Kulubaev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan on 23 September 2024 during the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The two ministers discussed the enhancement of ties under bilateral and multilateral framework particularly in trade, investment, and people to people exchange. Zheenbek Kulubaev expressed his intention to welcome Cambodian students in the field of medical science since Kyrgyzstan has expertise and has welcomed students from many countries in the field.

On the occasion, both sides signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Establishment of Bilateral Consultations between the two foreign ministries and agreed to convene the first meeting at an early date.

Kyrgyzstan is a country located in the Central Asia region with a population of approximately seven million and forged diplomatic ties with Cambodia in 1995.
