Seoul (FN), Sep. 11 – Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen encouraged the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Government of South Korea to focus on cultural exchanges and strengthening relations between the people of both countries, particularly among the Khmer-South Korean families. This will help them better understand the cultures of both nations and contribute to promoting tourism activities.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen received a courtesy call by Jeong Samuel, President of Korean Culture Association (KCA), on 10 September in Seoul, South Korea.

During the meeting, the KCA president presented his research on the history of Cambodia and expressed his admiration for Samdech Techo’s leadership, particularly his efforts in ending the flames of war, bringing peace, and fostering development in Cambodia to this day.

He also informed Samdech Techo about the association's work in promoting cultural relations and cooperation between Cambodia and South Korea.

The president further shared his plans to collaborate with the Cambodian ambassador to South Korea in organising a future cultural exchange program. He called for support from Samdech Techo and the Royal Government of Cambodia.

Additionally, the president informed Samdech Techo that in May, 2,000 photographs showcasing Cambodian culture and ancient temples were exhibited in Seoul. He also mentioned that, on 26 September, the association will host a fundraising event to support the Samdech Techo Voluntary Youth Doctor Association (TYDA).

In December 2024, the association plans to organise a painting exhibition in Siem Reap to promote cultural exchange between Cambodia and Korea, and will also invite renowned Korean artists to perform.

The president also shared plans to facilitate cultural exchanges between the people of Cambodia and Korea, especially among families living in both countries, through study tours aimed at enhancing their understanding of each other’s cultures.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen underlined that cultural and people-to-people exchanges not only foster good relations between individuals but also strengthen ties between nations. Furthermore, they play a key role in promoting tourism between the two countries.
