Phnom Penh (FN): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet urged the private sector and stakeholders in the country's rice industry to continue maintaining high quality standards, ensuring stable supply, and protecting the reputation of Cambodian rice.
The premier spoke on Tuesday (Sep. 10) during the 7th Cambodia Rice Forum, held in Phnom Penh under the theme, ‘Transforming the Cambodia Rice Supply Chain to be Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable’.
"I would like to call on the private sector and stakeholders in Cambodia's rice sector to continue upholding quality, standards, and supply stability, and to strive to protect the good reputation of Cambodian rice because this is our shared interest. We have all worked hard over a long period to build a reputation and earn the recognition and trust we enjoy today. Let us work together to preserve this reputation for the long-term benefit of our agricultural sector," the premier underscored.
It is noteworthy that Cambodian rice has achieved global recognition, winning the Best Rice Award for Phkar Rumduol rice five times (2012, 2013, 2014, 2018, and 2022), and the Golden Rice Award for fragrant rice varieties from China in 2023.
