Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 10 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced that in 2025, the Royal Government will recruit 1,000 local agricultural officers to assist farmers in communes across the country, primarily to improve cultivation techniques, enhance productivity, reduce costs, and increase income.
The premier spoke on Tuesday (Sep. 10) at the 7th Cambodia Rice Forum in Phnom Penh.
“The purpose of the deployment of agricultural officials to communes is to reduce production costs while helping to maintain and increase farmers’ incomes,” Samdech Thipadei underscored.
Prime Minister Hun Manet underlined that the Royal Government places high importance on the agricultural sector. In fact, the seventh-mandate Royal Government has outlined and implemented three key strategic plans:
- Strategic Plan 1: Promote agricultural production, secure markets, and stabilise product prices through financing programmes for farmers.
- Strategic Plan 2: Another crucial plan involves the deployment of agricultural officers to communes and districts. So far, 250 recruitment exams have been conducted, and an additional 1,000 exams are planned to accelerate the appointment of agricultural officials to support farmers in local areas, as they require technical assistance.
- Strategic Plan 3: The development of modern agricultural communities, which Samdech Thipadei views as a new method of organisation and dissemination at the local level, designed to enhance efficiency for the people.
The premier also revealed plans to visit modern agricultural communities in the future.
