Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 10 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that Cambodia has access to multiple markets where processed products can be exported duty-free.
The premier spoke on Tuesday (Sep. 10) during the 7th Cambodia Rice Forum in Phnom Penh.
Additionally, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined that the country’s new investment law offers significant incentives for the private sector to engage in processing for export.
“Cambodia has access to many markets where we can export processed products without import duties. Our new investment law also provides substantial incentives for the agricultural sector to engage in processing for export, particularly when using local raw materials,” Samdech Thipadei underscored.
Samdech Thipadei further underlined that if the private sector ensures high product quality and is able to penetrate Western markets, there will be no market that Cambodia cannot enter, provided that competitive pricing is offered.
On the occasion, the premier also urged efforts to explore additional markets, particularly those with high value-added potential, through trade agreements including the Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement (CCFTA), the Cambodia-South Korea Free Trade Agreement (CKFTA), the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Cambodia and the United Arab Emirates, and entry into the halal market.
Samdech Thipadei called on the private sector and stakeholders in Cambodia’s rice industry to maintain quality, uphold standards, ensure a stable supply, and protect the positive reputation of Cambodian rice.
