Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 5 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet responded to Hay Vanna, a member of the opposition youth in Japan, who attempted to incite the 18 August movement to undermine the Cambodian economy.
The premier spoke on Thursday (Sep. 5) during a certificate presentation ceremony for nearly 2,000 law students and trainees at OCIC in Phnom Penh.
Samdech President Hun Manet expressed anger at Hay Vanna, who, from Japan, urged people to incite unrest and destabilize the Cambodian economy. While most Cambodians support development cooperation, Vanna instead exploited the situation to attempt to overthrow the government.
Samdech Thipadei revealed that Hay Vanna, in contact with opposition group members, has attempted to spread the August 18 movement to obstruct Cambodia's development. This includes efforts to deter foreign investment and prevent foreigners from working in the country.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei expressed gratitude to the armed forces, authorities, and the public for their efforts in preventing the 18 August movement from taking place.
