Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 5 – Cambodian President of the National Assembly Khuon Sudary is confident that the trade volume between Cambodia and Thailand will reach its target of USD 15 billion by 2025, with more than USD 9 billion achieved in 2023.
President of the National Assembly Khuon Sudary received a farewell call by outgoing Thai Ambassador to Cambodia Cherdkiat Atthakor on Wednesday (Sep. 4) at the National Assembly.
The National Assembly president expressed her deep gratitude to Ambassador Cherdkiat Atthakor, along with previous ambassadors, for their active efforts and high level of experience and professionalism in fulfilling their roles. Their work has been instrumental in maintaining, strengthening, expanding, and enhancing the long-standing and deepening bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries. This includes the exchange of high-level technical visits at all levels, as well as facilitating and promoting trade, investment, health, education, and cultural exchanges.
The president of the National Assembly underlined the National Assembly of Cambodia's commitment to welcoming all forms of cooperation with Thailand in strengthening and expanding strategic partnership cooperation to achieve more significant outcomes that serve the interests of both countries. This includes diplomacy, commerce, economy, and tourism, along with the promotion and support of joint mechanisms between the two kingdoms, including the "Two Kingdoms, One Destination" initiative.
For his part, Cherdkiat Atthakor expressed optimism about the economic growth and trade volume between the two countries. He underlined the strong and close Cambodian-Thai relationship, which has reached its 75th anniversary and continues to grow stronger in all areas. He noted that the trade sector has expanded significantly, with Thailand becoming the sixth-largest investor in Cambodia, a major trading partner, and the leading source of tourists. He expressed hope that more Thai tourists would visit Cambodia in the future.
