Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 3 – Cambodian Information Minister Neth Pheaktra paid a courtesy call on Malaysian Minister of Communications Ahmad Fahmi bin Mohamed Fadzil on Monday (Sep. 2) during the 22nd General Conference and 19th Asia Media Summit, organised by the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) in Malaysia.

During the meeting, both ministers underlined the importance of cooperation between the Cambodian Ministry of Information and the Malaysian Ministry of Communications, particularly in the exchange of information between the Cambodian News Agency and the Malaysian National News Agency, Bernama, as well as collaboration with radio stations.

Both ministers also pledged to work together to combat fake news and to share experiences on information dissemination to ensure the security of information for consumers.

Both Ministers also agreed to take the initiative to strengthen information security and order for the citizens of both countries and to encourage other ASEAN countries to join Cambodia and Malaysia in this effort.

It should be noted that on 1 September 2024, Information Minister Neth Pheaktra called on the member countries of the AIBD to join Cambodia in the campaign against false information. He urged member countries to participate in this campaign to raise public awareness, an initiative that has been widely supported and applauded.
