Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 2 – The UniPreneur National Challenge, a pinnacle event in Cambodia’s entrepreneurial landscape, brought together around 1,000 promising student entrepreneurs from 25 universities nationwide for a three-day Startup Demo Day at the AUPP Technology Center (ATC) from 29 to 31 August, 2024. This event marked the culmination of a rigorous journey through the UniPreneur Program, Season 2 of Khmer Enterprise.

“In a conducive entrepreneurship ecosystem, there’s always the creation of new innovations, fostering existing innovations, and advancing potential innovations. Today’s program allows students to​ experience innovations as seeds for future creativities. This work contributes to the development of human capital which aligns with the Pentagonal Strategy of the Royal Government of Cambodia,” said Chhieng Vanmunin, Delegate of the Royal Government in charge as the CEO of Khmer Enterprise.”

The Khmer Enterprise’s UniPreneur initiative, including the UnipreneurCamp, UnipreneurSprint, and UniPreneur National Challenge, has performed as a significant platform for university entrepreneurs to build entrepreneurial capacities for showcasing their ingenuity by transforming their innovative ideas into products or services, to drive positive changes, as the solutions to current problems of the citizens, public and private sectors.

Raymond Leos, Vice-President of Academic Service at AUPP, expressed his enthusiasm as one of the hosts in arranging the National Challenge. “AUPP is committed to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among our students. The UniPreneur National Challenge provides a platform for the next generation of Cambodian leaders to showcase their talents and gain invaluable feedback from experienced entrepreneurs and industry leaders.”

The event will feature 75 top teams from across 25 universities in Cambodia who have joined the UnipreneurSprint, a pre-incubator program designed to prepare them for the UniPreneur National Challenge. These teams will present their startup ideas to a distinguished panel of judges, vying for a spot among the top six teams that will be invited to the prestigious Khmer Enterprise Summit 2024.

The top six teams from the Unipreneur National Challenge will have the unique opportunity to join with other top performers from Khmer Enterprise’s various initiatives. This summit will serve as a platform that brings together entrepreneurs, startups, SMEs, educational institutions, business associations, enterprise support organisations (ESOs), development partners, and other key local and international non-government organizations for networking and collaboration to continue to develop a more conducive entrepreneurial ecosystem.

As Cambodia continues building a vibrant startup ecosystem, the Unipreneur National Challenge stands as a beacon of hope and opportunity for future entrepreneurs. With the support of Khmer Enterprise, these young innovators are well on their way to a lasting impact on Cambodia’s economic landscape.
