Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 30 – China leads the world in solar energy with 609,921 MW of capacity, significantly outpacing other nations. The gap between China and the second-ranked US is nearly four times that between the US and 15th-ranked UK. China's solar sector is growing rapidly, with a 42% annual growth rate.
Smaller countries like Brazil, Viet Nam, and Poland are experiencing rapid growth in solar energy, each exceeding 120% annual growth over the past decade. In Brazil, solar power is now the second-largest electricity source.
High energy demands and efforts to reduce coal use have driven many Asian nations to commit to carbon neutrality or net-zero emissions. Renewable energy investments in the region are expected to double to $1.3 trillion by 2030.
