Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 22 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced the establishment of a fund dedicated to building infrastructure along the Cambodian border, encouraging public participation in the initiative.

The premier spoke on Thursday (Aug. 22) on the occasion of the 1st Anniversary of the Royal Government of the 7th Legislature of the National Assembly of Cambodia.

Prime Minister Hun Manet underscored, "I have decided to create the Border Infrastructure Fund with two goals. First, to secure additional funding, and second, to offer people across the country a chance to participate directly with the Royal Government. This fund will focus on constructing physical infrastructure along the border, particularly the border ring road. I call on all our fellow citizens to support this effort to build and defend our territorial integrity."

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei underlined that the Royal Government has already constructed roads along the borders with Viet Nam, Thailand, and Laos, with the Cambodia-Viet Nam border roads totalling 686.96 kilometres of the planned 1,066 kilometres.

Addressing concerns about the development of Kratie, Stung Treng, Ratanakkiri, and Mondulkiri provinces, Samdech Thipadei underscored the importance of infrastructure development, including roads and land for habitation, as well as deploying agricultural technical officers to support these areas.

In addition, the premier introduced two new programs including free tours every weekend from September to the end of 2024 for people, especially young people, to visit and observe the border ring road and development projects. He reaffirmed the Royal Government’s commitment to sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national development.
