Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 22 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet tasked Deputy Prime Minister Aun Pornmoniroth, Minister of Economy and Finance and Chairman of the Economic and Financial Policy Committee, with developing an incentive package to encourage increased investment in the Northeast, particularly from local investors.
The premier spoke on Thursday (Aug. 22) on the occasion of the 1st Anniversary of the Royal Government of the 7th Legislature of the National Assembly of Cambodia.
Samdech Thipadei urged the swift preparation of this incentive package, with a deadline for completion by the end of 2024 and implementation set for early 2025. He views these incentives for local investment as a crucial step in addressing public concerns, particularly among young people worried about land loss related to the Development Triangle Area (DTA) cooperation.
"We aim to encourage all investors, particularly local ones, to drive development in the DTA area," the premier added.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei also reaffirmed the Royal Government's commitment to advancing the national economy, not just in the four provinces within the development triangle area but across the entire country, with the aim of improving living standards and achieving the goal of becoming a prosperous nation by 2050.
