Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 12 – Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen issued a stern warning to those planning to join demonstrations or align with the so-called "Unity for the Nation" group, urging them to immediately cease their actions and withdraw to avoid prosecution.
Samdech Techo spoke in the special voice message on Monday (Aug. 12), clarifying that the Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Development Triangle Area (CLV-DTA) is not a joint development or a joint venture.
Members of the "Unity for the Nation" Telegram group have already been identified by him and law enforcement, Samdech added. This Telegram group is actively plotting to overthrow the legitimate Royal Government through force, including the use of both civilian and incited armed forces.
"Currently, for those who have already been arrested and those who have not yet been detained, we will consider leniency if they withdraw from the 'Unity for the Nation' group and cease their involvement. The group's ultimate goal is to overthrow the legitimate government," the Senate president underscored.
He continued that while this ill-intended group seeks to overthrow the Royal Government, it remains the government's duty to protect the legitimate administration to ensure it can safeguard the citizens.
Samdech Techo also pointed out that citizens who do not understand the Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Development Triangle Agreement can access the relevant documents on the Ministry of Commerce’s website.
Additionally, Samdech Techo Hun Sen reiterated that Cambodia has not ceded the lands of the four provinces—Ratanakkiri, Mondulkiri, Kratie, and Stung Treng—for joint development or joint ventures; the collaboration remains strictly at the level of cooperation.
