Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 12 – Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, cautioned opposition groups against crossing the red line by aligning with illegal rebels in attempts to overthrow the legitimate government.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen spoke a special voice message on Monday (Aug. 12).

His warning follows attempts by illegal rebel groups in various countries to incite protests against the CLV-DTA, aiming to destabilize Cambodia, much like the recent unrest in Bangladesh.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen underscored, "Foreign incitement is intense, but our people must not be misled. Do not cross the red line by attempting to overthrow the government, as the illegal rebels have urged recently. The government will take necessary measures to prevent anarchy and unrest."

"We have no choice. Our only option is to protect peace, political stability, and the lives of our people," Samdech Techo added.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen underlined that the government is willing to make any necessary sacrifices to ensure that the people live in peace and political stability, while continuing efforts to build an economy that is being affected by external factors.

Samdech Techo also revealed that the authorities already know the identities of the members of the ill-intended group, and cautioned against underestimating the Royal Government's awareness and preparedness. The government cannot allow a few individuals to jeopardise the welfare of 17 million people.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen added that please do not compare Cambodia with Bangladesh at all. He urged people to think carefully before participating in demonstrations or actions aimed at overthrowing the legitimate government.

In the voice message, Samdech Techo clarified that the red line here refers to the Constitution. He acknowledged concerns about the loss of territory and affirmed that the government is equally concerned about national independence and sovereignty. However, he urged people to consider the real situation and not be misled by foreign incitement.
