Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 8 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that people remain at the core of the Royal Government’s policy. Thus, Education and human capital training are long-term investment strategies of the Royal Government to build a socioeconomic, and industrial base centred on skills and knowledge to achieve the vision of becoming a high-income country by 2050.
The premier spoke on Thursday (Aug. 8) during an opening of De Montfort University Cambodia in Phnom Penh.
"People remain at the core of our policy. Education and human capital training are long-term investment strategies of the Royal Government to build a socioeconomic, and industrial base centred on skills and knowledge. This approach ensures that Cambodia will avoid the middle-income trap on our path to becoming a high-income country by 2050,” Samdech Thipadei underlined.
The premier mentioned that to achieve this goal, higher education institutions are indispensable partners of the Royal Government. British educational institutions, in particular, offer added value, especially in sharing experiences from Britain in building a prosperous society, economy, and industry through knowledge and skills.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei continued that we cannot become a high-income country if our human resources lack the knowledge and skills, cannot compete in the international arena, are unhealthy, and are unable to contribute to building the foundation of a knowledge-based socioeconomic structure and industry.
At the same time, the premier encouraged De Montfort University to work closely with the UK Business Network to promote the integration of education with the job market.
