Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 8 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced the opening of De Montfort University, a well-known British educational institution, in Cambodia. Samdech Thipadei noted that this initiative recognizes and values the Royal Government of Cambodia's efforts in the field of education.
The premier spoke on Thursday (Aug. 8) during the opening of De Montfort University Cambodia in Phnom Penh.
"The presence of De Montfort University demonstrates the recognition of the quality of education in Cambodia and the capability of Cambodian students to attend and excel in higher education, competing at international standards. De Montfort University chose Cambodia as a destination for its branch because it acknowledges that Cambodia values education from basic to tertiary levels," the premier underscored.
According to the premier, De Montfort University recognizes that education is influencing Cambodia's development as the Royal Government continues to constantly improve the quality and potential of the education sector and promote internationalization.
Additionally, the university sees that Cambodia is full of young people who are energetic and proactive in contributing to their personal development as well as the development of their communities and society as a whole.
Lastly, Samdech Thipadei highlighted that the investment by De Montfort University represents a long-term mutual benefit between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the United Kingdom. He encouraged De Montfort University to work closely with the UK Business Network to promote the integration of education with the job market.
