Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 6 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet disclosed that some foreigners had previously voiced concerns that allowing Chinese investors to invest in the kingdom's Sihanoukville province could result in a loss of sovereignty.
The premier spoke on Tuesday (Aug. 6) during a graduation ceremony for University of Puthisastra students at OCIC, Phnom Penh.
Samdech Thipadei thanked them for their concern but affirmed that the Royal Government has sufficient capacity to discern what is beneficial and what is not.
The Royal Government of Cambodia has implemented a series of measures and policies to strengthen the coastal provinces, transforming them into a potential jewel of the nation, the premier added.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined the need for Cambodians to love their country, enhance human resources, and engage globally. He added that isolation is not viable, and losing territory or sovereignty is political suicide.
