Kandal (FN), Aug. 5 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that the construction of the Funan Techo Canal demonstrates national prestige, independence, sovereignty, and prosperity.
The premier spoke on Monday (Aug. 5) during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Funan Techo Canal.
"This project, the construction of the Funan Techo Canal, aims to elevate national prestige, independence, sovereignty, and prosperity. This is what we must do," the premier underscored.
Additionally, Samdech Thipadei noted that the Funan Techo Canal will enhance connectivity among Cambodia's waterways and promote investment and trade.
Premier Hun Manet highlighted that the Kingdom of Funan was a glorious empire in southern China. He added that the Royal Government's vision to promote agriculture, trade, industry, and logistics aligns with building a glorious Funan empire.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei continued, mentioning that the former capital of Angkor Borei during the Funan period had five canals that facilitated Funan's trade. The construction of the Funan Techo Canal aligns with the vision of the Funan Empire's leaders.
Moreover, the premier stated that the Funan Techo Canal will not only serve international trade but also support the irrigation system, benefiting the agricultural sector. Samdech Thipadei expressed confidence that the Funan Techo Canal will provide additional economic strength to Cambodia.
