Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 3 – Mohammed Ismaeil A.Dahlwy, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Cambodia in Hanoi, expressed his commitment to providing continued humanitarian assistance to Cambodia to further enhance the bilateral relations between the two countries and peoples.
His remarks were made at a press conference held by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSHARC) at the Islamic Center of Phnom Penh (PPIC) on 2 August 2024 to introduce the voluntary medical program launched by KSHARC in Cambodia, which started on 29 July 2024.
The event was presided over by the ambassador and Senior Minister in charge of Special Missions, Osman Hassan, with participation from medical experts and officials from relevant ministries and institutions.
“The humanitarian voluntary medical efforts are a continuation of Saudi Arabia's humanitarian and developmental initiatives provided to the Kingdom of Cambodia, which have surpassed a total value of USD 6 million to date,” said Ambassador Mohammed Ismaeil A.Dahlwy.
He added that the program and its distinguished Saudi medical team members have also focused on transferring and exchanging expertise and skills with their Cambodian medical counterparts.
On the occasion, Ambassador Mohammed Ismaeil A.Dahlwy also expressed his belief that this volunteer program will have a positive impact in deepening the humanitarian connection, and people to people exchange between two friendly countries and peoples.
At the same time, on behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia, Osman Hassan thanked the Royal Government of Saudi Arabia for its past attention towards Cambodian people regardless of their nationality or religion.
The Cambodian senior minister also hoped for continued humanitarian assistance from the Government and the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia will open its embassy in Cambodia in 2024 to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including diplomacy, education, sports, and trade.
