Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 2 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced that he will take decisive action to prevent similar incidents to Bangladesh from occurring in Cambodia. He also urged people to continue expressing their opinions on national issues but cautioned against actions that could jeopardise national economic security.

The premier spoke on Friday (Aug. 2) during his gala dinner with the Cambodian Oknha Association and the Housing Development Association of Cambodia.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, "Among those still worried, do you want to replicate the situation in Bangladesh? Do you think the two million residents of Phnom Penh want such a scenario? Do you think the ten million residents of Dhaka want the same? Burning and causing difficulties for tourists—is this what people want?"

Samdech Thipadei reaffirmed his support for expressing love and concern for the nation but urged everyone to understand the situation from all angles and avoid causing unrest that could destabilise the country and affect its economy. He also underlined that he will not allow the CLV-DTA to be used to create unrest similar to what has occurred in Bangladesh.
