Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 30 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet highlighted the Royal Government's policies and mechanisms to create a conducive climate for investment in Cambodia.
Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do, Lee Cheol-woo paid a courtesy call on Samdech Thipadei on Monday morning (Jul. 29) at the Peace Palace.
The premier encouraged the Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do to continue promoting Cambodia’s economic and investment potential.
During the meeting, Lee Cheol-woo praised the elevation of Cambodia-South Korea relations to a "strategic partnership," which further highlights the close ties and cooperation between the two countries.
The governor thanked the Royal Government for its excellent cooperation and coordination, especially the humanitarian activities of the Gyeongsangbuk-do delegation in Cambodia, as well as the organization of the "Angkor-Kyung You Exhibition" in Siem Reap in 2006.
The governor pledged to further strengthen and expand cooperation with relevant ministries and institutions of Cambodia and informed Samdech Thipadei that Gyeongsangbuk-do is a large province of the Republic of Korea, known for its culture, traditions, and economic potential.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei thanked the Korean government and people, especially those in Gyeongsangbuk-do, for their contribution to humanitarian activities, such as providing free medical care to Cambodians, and praised the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Gyeongsangbuk-do and Kampong Thom.
Both sides also discussed further strengthening and expanding cooperation in the fields of investment, tourism, people-to-people ties, vocational training in health, and sharing successful experiences in implementing the New Village Project (Saemaul Undong) in South Korea.
