Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 24 – Cambodian Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen announced that the 12th Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Development Triangle Area (CLV-DTA) Summit will be held in Cambodia, speaking in special message on the CLV-DTA on 23 July 2024.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen affirmed that through the past 11 consecutive summits, all CLV countries have consistently noted the steady progress in the regional development triangle area, such as economic growth and increased citizens' income.

"Cambodia will host the 12th Summit. Cambodia has already sent invitations to the other countries through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is waiting for responses from Viet Nam and Laos," Samdech Techo underscored.

According to Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the 11 summits were held as follows:

- The 1st Summit was held in 1999 in Vientiane, Laos.
- The 2nd Summit was held in 2002 in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam.
- The 3rd Summit was held in 2004 in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
- The 4th Summit was held in Da Lat, Viet Nam.
- The 5th Summit was held in 2008 in Laos.
- The 6th Summit was held in 2010 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
- The 7th Summit was held in 2013 in Vientiane, Laos.
- The 8th Summit was held in 2014 in Vientiane, Laos, in conjunction with the ASEAN Summit hosted by Laos.
- The 9th Summit was held in 2016 in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
- The 10th Summit was held in 2018 in Viet Nam.
- The 11th Summit was held in 2020 in Laos (via videoconference).

Taking this occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen noted that Japan is also a country that has contributed to development assistance for the CLV-DTA. In 2005, Japan provided about USD 20 million for the development of small projects in Mondulkiri province.
