Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 23 – Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his desire to stand at the Indochina T-junction, popularly known as the Dragon’s Tail, where the boundaries of Cambodia, Viet Nam and Laos converge.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen spoke on Tuesday (Jul. 23) in a special message on the CLV-DTA.
"I hope that the Royal Government will continue its efforts to construct National Road No. 78.5 from the Ratanakkiri provincial capital to the T-junction. I wish to see this happen while I am still alive," Samdech Techo emphasized.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen mentioned that National Road No. 78.5 from Banlung City through Ta Veng district to the Dragon's Tail is over 166 kilometres long and 9 meters wide, and efforts will be made to raise funds for its construction.
In addition, Samdech Techo Hun Sen noted that if the Royal Government builds another road, it would complement the road that Viet Nam helped construct, National Road No. 78, from Ou Ya Dao to Banlung, where Samdech and the former Vietnamese prime minister inaugurated the international border checkpoint.
The Senate president mentioned that the inauguration of the international border checkpoint has made it easier for Cambodia to export goods to Viet Nam, saving both time and transportation costs.
Please note that the T-junction area sits atop a mountain peak and is celebrated for symbolising the friendship and cooperation among the three nations.
