Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 23 – Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen announced zero tolerance for those who mislead the cooperation of the Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Development Triangle Area (CLV-DTA).
Samdech Techo Hun Sen spoke on Tuesday (Jul. 23) in a special message on the CLV-DTA.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen stated, "It is intolerable that some have recently slandered the situation in the development triangle area, falsely accusing Cambodian leaders, including myself, Your Majesty, and Prime Minister Hun Manet, of being traitors over the demarcation of four provinces with Viet Nam."
He asserted that the opposition's incitement will lead to legal action against those involved in the plot, noting that three individuals have already been arrested.
"You [the opposition] need to understand that your incitement and manipulation have landed you in jail, and if this continues, you will be imprisoned. I urge zero tolerance. Their recent actions are too serious to tolerate,” Samdech Techo added.
In response to allegations by Sok Sokun, also known as James Sok, that the DTA was a Vietnamese initiative in 1995, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the true initiator who has attended 11 CLV summits since 1999, refuted these claims as baseless.
"Some say it is a Vietnamese initiative since 1999. This is unsubstantiated and shameless. If you are confident, swear by it," he said, addressing James Sok directly.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen was the initiator of the DTA. During his visit to Laos, he sought support from then Laotian prime minister, and later, during a meeting with Viet Nam, he also secured support from then Vietnamese prime minister.
