Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 19 – The Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Cambodia office, in collaboration with the Cambodian Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MLVT), held a launching ceremony on 18 July 2024, for the Project for "Building Capacity and Establishing an Enabling Environment in ICT Majors of TVET in Cambodia."

The ceremony is presided over by Moonjung Choi, Country Director of KOICA Cambodia office and Heng Sour, Minister of MLVT. The ceremony served as an official launch of the five-year project (2023-2027) funded by a USD 8 million grant from the Republic of Korea. It aimed to inform stakeholders, including representatives from provincial TVET institutions, line ministries, and related NGOs, about the project's goals and implementation strategies. The gathering fostered discussion around project resources and support available to ICT-focused TVET institutions throughout the project duration.

The project has 4 components such as 1) improving ICT curriculum to meet market demand, 2) supporting capacity building to policy maker, master trainer and teacher, 3) improving training environment through remodeling computer lab of 20 public TVET with setting up computer and IOT equipment, strengthening support program such National TVET day..etc.

This project is expected to significantly boost the digital skills of Cambodian youth, bridging the gap between the workforce's capabilities and the job market's requirements. By equipping graduates with in-demand ICT skills, the project will contribute to Cambodia's overall economic development.
