Siem Reap (FN), Jul. 18 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet proposed establishing direct flights between major tourist destinations in neighbouring countries and Siem Reap, speaking on Thursday (Jul. 18) during a groundbreaking ceremony for construction of Samdech Pin Sem Museum in Siem Reap province.

"We have negotiated to open direct flights with India, but we also need direct flights with other areas. Therefore, I met with the Philippine ambassador and requested direct flights from Cebu Island to Siem Reap, from Langkawi in Malaysia to Siem Reap, from Jeju Island in South Korea to Siem Reap, and from Phuket in Thailand to Siem Reap. Additionally, we are negotiating more connections," the premier underscored.

On the occasion, the premier also recommended reviewing and reducing airport parking fees. If an aircraft carries over 80 percent of its capacity with tourists, the fee should be reduced. Introducing new flights during the low tourist season will help lower landing prices and reduce return ticket costs.

Samdech Thipadei added that the Royal Government is willing to reduce potential revenues to attract more tourists to Cambodia.
