Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 3 – The Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) announced its plan to invite Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, to share his experience in seeking peace and ending the flames of war in Cambodia.
ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe paid a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on 2 July 2024 at the Peace Palace.
During the meeting, the ERIA president informed Samdech Thipadei about his visit and the ERIA delegation's engagements in Cambodia, including working meetings with the Ministry of Commerce, the National Bank of Cambodia, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Tetsuya Watanabe conveyed that through this visit, ERIA aims to strengthen and expand cooperation with the Royal Government of Cambodia, particularly focusing on promoting development, industrial development plans, and human resource development in Cambodia.
In addition, the ERIA president also informed about the intention to invite Samdech Techo to be a key speaker at ERIA School of Government to share his successful experience in the peace process with trainees who are public officials. In particular, Cambodia's success in contributing to the maintenance of peace and stability in the region.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed the meeting, expressing his pleasure in discussing with the professors and delegation, and highly appreciated the excellent cooperation between ERIA and the Royal Government of Cambodia.
The premier also underlined that the Royal Government of Cambodia's focus on human resource development through various initiatives in education and health, as well as key reform measures in various priority areas. He highlighted the efforts to boost national economic growth to achieve the 2050 vision of transforming Cambodia into a high-income country and preparing for potential challenges as Cambodia transitions out of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) category by 2029.
At the same time, Samdech Thipadei underscored the Royal Government's commitment to infrastructure development, connectivity, capacity building for citizens, and vocational training to meet Cambodia's current needs, particularly in response to the demands for human resources in the industrial sector.
