Kampong Cham (FN), Jul. 1 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet outlined the need for diversifying agricultural promotion. He stated that the choice of animals or crops is secondary to meeting the demand from both domestic and international markets. To achieve this, the Royal Government must address the cost of production for farmers by reducing import duties on agricultural machinery and introducing appropriate solutions.
The premier spoke on Monday (Jul. 1) during the celebration of the 19th National Fish Day in Kampong Cham province.
Samdech Thipadei said that the Royal Government continues to prioritize agriculture as a crucial sector. It actively contributes to ensuring food security, improving living standards, reducing poverty, and sustaining economic growth by maintaining a balance between conservation and development.
In the past, the Royal Government has exempted additional taxes on domestic and export products, including rice, corn, beans, pepper, cashew nuts, cassava, and rubber. Therefore, enterprises involved in the production of agricultural crops are also exempt from additional taxes to encourage farmers.
