Shanghai (FN), Jul. 1 – The Hetao International Organization Headquarters (HIOH) and its constituent international organizations made their debut at MWC Shanghai 2024, which was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) from 26-28 June 2024. This year's MWC Shanghai brings together leaders from across the global mobile communications industry, giving the HIOH an opportunity to demonstrate its leading achievements in areas like technological innovation, industry ecosystems, standards and specifications, and testing and certification. The HIOH says it was created to provide a platform upon which constituent organizations can explore new paths for future development together with other global industry players.
The HIOH was established in January 2024. It is committed to gathering global insights and resources to promote technological exchanges, accelerating standards setting, and enabling industries to improve their global competitiveness. This innovative platform has already provided a wide range of cooperation opportunities for worldwide industry organizations, and it has also involved new vitality into the innovation and development of the global mobile communications industry.
To date, the HIOH has brought together a number of international organizations and service institutions, including the World WLAN Application Alliance (WAA), SparkLink Alliance (SA), UHD World Association (UWA), Global Computing Consortium (GCC), Global Intelligent Internet of Things Consortium (GIIC), Network Innovation and Development Alliance (NIDA). These organizations work together to promote the development of new industries and new ecosystems.
At MWC Shanghai 2024, the HIOH hosted a number of events, including the 2024 Global Innovative Industry Association Forum and the 2024 Hetao Global Industry Association Night. It also had its own booth where it showcased the leading advantages of its constituent organizations in the fields of audio and video, short-range communications, computing, devices, networks, and platforms.
A number of notable guests spoke at these events and provided insights and suggestions that have been valuable for the development of the HIOH. These guests included Zhang Gang, Former Counsellor of the State Council, Deputy Director of the Chinese Standardization Expert Committee; Zhu Gang, Deputy Director-General of the Center for International Economic and Technological Cooperation under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; Zeng Jianpeng, Director-General of the Development Authority of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone (Shenzhen Park); Lin Yi, Deputy Director of the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology; Gan Bin, Vice President of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.; Tiago Rodrigues, CEO of the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA); Jiang Wenbo, Member of the Editorial Board of the China Media Group and Chairman of the UHD World Association; Zhang Wenjun, Chair of the Academic Committee of the International SparkLink Alliance; and Yang Tao, Vice Chair of the Comentropy Industry and Standard Innovation Service Center.
Zhang Gang said, "The development and implementation of industry standards requires effective information sharing and business interaction among core technology providers, product manufacturers, testing and certification service providers, and product end-users. Industry organizations from the HIOH should collaborate to provide an efficient interconnectivity platform and foster prosperous and vibrant industry ecosystems."
During the forum, a signing ceremony was held for the Joint Initiative for the Cooperation between International Industry Organizations. This initiative is intended to enhance mutual understanding and trust between international industry and standard organizations, establish solid communication channels and platforms, and explore paths for mutual recognition between these organizations for standardization, testing, and certification. This initiative also aims to promote strategic partnerships between international industry and standard organizations as well as in-depth cooperation in areas like industry development, common technologies, international standardization, testing and certification, and application demonstrations. The release of this initiative represents a solid step taken by the HIOH to advance global industry cooperation and build new mechanisms for fostering an open economy.
Through this joint initiative, the HIOH will double down on creating an international standard system for global interconnectivity, and encourage more international and regional standard organizations to work on the international standards projects in Hetao, through efforts such as the joint release of influential international standards. This is intended to facilitate global standardization, and help the industry improve its overall competitiveness. The HIOH will also scale up industrial adoption of leading global technical standards, and boost in-depth transformation, quality enhancement, and efficiency improvement in traditional industries. In addition, the HIOH will pioneer efforts to drive the commercialization of new technological achievements, and the development of new science and technology industry clusters.
The 2024 Global Innovative Industry Association Forum was followed by a three-day exhibition of the HIOH at E02, N1, SNIEC. The exhibition featured a wide range of products from its industry partners in a variety of fields, including wireless communications, ultra-high-definition video, and intelligent computing, demonstrating their innovation achievements in emerging technologies. Visitors had the opportunity to directly experience these advanced technologies and meet with some of the HIOH's technical experts at the exhibition to discuss the latest development trends in different industries.
The MWC Shanghai 2024 exhibition represents an important step in the HIOH's development strategy as it was able to showcase its strengths and expand its international influence. The HIOH intends to continue facilitating international communication and collaboration to further drive innovation and development in the global mobile communications industry and contribute more to global economic prosperity and stability. The international industry organization ecosystem is expected to thrive through collaboration with the support of the HIOH.
