Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 28 – In a significant step towards further strengthening bilateral economic cooperation, Indonesian Ambassador Santo Darmosumarto met with H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, on June 26, 2024.
During the discussions, Ambassador Darmosumarto highlighted the importance of harnessing technology to boost cross-border financial interactions. "I am deeply impressed with the advanced cashless payment system in Cambodia. This presents a unique opportunity for us to collaborate and enhance the financial connectivity between our countries," he stated.
The Governor of NBC expressed confidence that Cambodia's modern banking and financial infrastructure would be well-prepared for such cooperation. With around 100 thousand Indonesian nationals residing in Cambodia, there is strong desire to benefit from such growing financial connectivity, including the potential presence of Indonesian banks in Cambodia.
Ambassador Darmosumarto also conveyed his admiration for the SOSORO Museum and expressed interest in exploring museum cooperation between the national banks of both countries. "Cultural exchanges can strengthen our bilateral relations further and the Sosoro Museum stands as a testament to Cambodia's rich history in banking and finance," he remarked.
The meeting concluded with both sides committing to work closely to achieve these shared goals and foster a robust financial partnership between Indonesia and Cambodia.
