Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 26 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet advised the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Interior to prioritise the recruitment of new troops, giving preference to the children of veterans, former police officers and military personnel.
The premier spoke on Wednesday (Jun. 26) on the occasion of the celebration of the 17th Cambodian Veterans Day.
According to Samdech Thipadei, this priority does not mean that young citizens from the general population will not have the same opportunity. These priorities are intended to encourage veterans, former police officers and military personnel by allowing their children the opportunity to continue serving the nation.
"I would like to advise the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Interior, the Commander-in-Chief, as well as the National Police Commissioner and the Army Chief to prioritise the recruitment of new troops from the children of veterans, former police officers, and former members of the military to give them opportunities on behalf of their parents," the premier underscored.
Samdech Thipadei stated that the patriotic sacrifices of our heroes, veterans, warriors, and people throughout history have significantly contributed to the protection of territorial integrity, the building of peace, and social stability in Cambodia. Their efforts have driven economic and social development for the benefit of the motherland and the Cambodian people.
At the same time, Samdech Thipadei also mentioned that he does not support any reforms that adversely affect veterans, as the Royal Government always welcomes the participation of veterans in returning to work through council or local positions. Additionally, Samdech Thipadei advised the Ministry of Labor to consider vocational training for veterans who are still strong and their children.
On this occasion, Premier Hun Manet thanked the veterans who continue to trust the Royal Government since the leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen and continue to vote for the Cambodian People's Party for the new term.
Currently, 109,034 veterans and 149,053 dependents receive monthly social security funds from the government, which are gradually adjusted based on national economic growth.
