Singapore (FN), Jun. 19 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Singaporean Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong acknowledged that Cambodia and Singapore have the potential to broaden cooperation for the mutual benefits of both countries.
The premier paid a courtesy call on Singaporean senior minister on Wednesday (Jun. 19) in Singapore.
During the meeting, the senior minister welcomed the first official visit of Samdech Thipadei and the high-level delegation to the Republic of Singapore, and expressed his pleasure to meet with the premier again after previous discussions, particularly during the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit in Australia in March 2024. He also praised the fruitful outcomes of the meetings between Samdech Thipadei and Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on 18 June 2024.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei thanked the Government and people of Singapore for their warm hospitality and highlighted discussions on various sectors of key cooperation between Cambodia and Singapore, a long-lasting relationship that dates back to Cambodia's recognition of Singapore's independence in 1965. The premier also mentioned that Singapore has played a vital role in contributing to the socioeconomic development of the Kingdom of Cambodia in the past.
Both sides also highlighted that Cambodia and Singapore have the potential to broaden cooperation for the mutual benefits of both countries, focusing on various potential areas such as vocational training, education, energy security, environmental protection, regional peacekeeping, and ensuring regional prosperity.
Taking this opportunity, Lee Hsien Loong also wished Cambodian Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk on her 88th Birthday.
Lastly, he also asked Prime Minister Hun Manet to convey his greetings to Cambodian President of the Senate, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, and expressed hope that Samdech Techo would visit Singapore at an appropriate time.
