Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 14 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that the irrigation system and water diversion in Stung Prek Tnaot have prevented flooding in more than 300,000 hectares, protecting people's farms, houses, and factories.
The premier spoke on Friday morning (Jun. 14) during the inspection of irrigation system and water diversion in Stung Prek Tnaot in Phnom Penh and surrounding satellite areas.
"Stung Prek Tnaot is crucial not only to prevent flood in Phnom Penh, but according to the report, the result is to irrigate more than 300,000 hectares of flooded areas, protecting people's farms, houses, and factories,” the premier underscored.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet pointed out that if this area is not equipped with canals and water stations, flooding will occur.
The premier continued that the irrigation system and water diversion in Stung Prek Tnaot will provide water for both the dry and rainy seasons, benefiting the citizens.
In addition, Premier Hun Manet noted that in the past, some canals were dry and others were too small to connect with Stung Prek Tnaot. However, now we are connected to the water station, allowing us to access water for daily needs.
Stung Prek Tnaot is very productive and also a place to connect with nature, as there are plans to set up tourist destinations along the small river and some canals.
