Phnom Penh (FN), May 31 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet requested the Khmer Artists Association to cooperate with the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts and the relevant ministries and institutions to establish a code of conduct for artists.
The premier spoke on Friday (May 31) during the meeting with Cambodian Artists under the theme "Heirs" in Phnom Penh.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underscored that "The Khmer Artists Association must work closely with the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts and the relevant ministries and institutions to set the code of ethics for artists and establish professional ethics for artists, serving as a coordinating mechanism with the association and all artists."
Premier Hun Manet noted that in the field of arts and culture, artists are role models and influencers of various backgrounds, especially through media via direct or indirect performances.
In addition, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined that maintaining the value of national art, culture, and personal integrity of artists depends on their decisions. Correct decisions will receive public support, while wrong decisions will face social pressure, he added.
